North Cross United
Methodist Church
| To lead people into a growing relationship with
Jesus Christ. |
At North Cross Church, we strive to accomplish
our mission by encouraging every person to apply the
following biblical practices of the Christian faith.
We ask that you try to...
- Worship every Sunday unless you are
sick or out of town
- Study the Christian faith, and
intentionally tend to your own spiritual life
between Sundays, by attending a small group,
studying the Bible, or reading a daily
devotional
- Serve in at least one
volunteer ministry
position
- Give in proportion to your income as
you work toward becoming a tithing Christian
- Invite others when the opportunity
arises
When you are doing your best to apply these
practices, we believe firmly that two things will
happen: First, you will grow personally in
your faith, and second, the church itself becomes
stronger in its mission and ministry. |
In January of 1998, the Louisiana
Conference of The United Methodist Church purchased
8.75 acres of land on Highway 21 in Madisonville. At
its January 6th meeting, the St. Tammany Parish
Planning and Zoning Commission approved the
usage of the site for the building of a church.
Eighteen months later, in June of 1999, Rev. Flint
E. Shea was appointed by Bishop Dan Solomon to be
the organizing pastor of a new congregation.
New churches typically begin by renting temporary
facilities before building a permanent place of
worship. In December of 1999, North Cross held its
first service of worship at the Vickers Northshore
Funeral Home north of I-12, in Covington, and moved five times in as many years!
In such a short time, over 400 people have become
part of this growing church. |
